SPIDER VEINS

Spider veins are red, blue, or purple veins that are small but quite visible.  They can occur at any age from teen years onward.  Although spider veins, also called telangiectasias, are considered a cosmetic problem by most health insurance companies, they often cause symptoms.  Symptoms may include itching, burning, throbbing, or pain.  Spider veins are treated by many practitioners, in many ways.  You will find a multitude of products in health food stores and on the internet that promise to decrease the pain, and the ugliness of spider veins and even cure varicose veins altogether.  While some of these will work with varying degrees of success, none of them will make the spider veins go away for good.  There are several medications used to inject spider veins, and when used with skill on the correct patients these are quite effective.  These vein injections are called sclerotherapy.  There are also many med spas and laser studios using superficial lasers to treat spider veins with varying degrees of success.  Often the results are not what were promised.  Vein injections are the treatment of choice for most spider veins on the legs, it is much more effective than surface laser treatment and it is actually less painful.

At bod:evolve veins we first do a careful evaluation.  This allows us to see if you may have vein problems that are worse than just spider veins.  As part of this exam we do a screening ultrasound exam.  If we find more serious problems we will do a complete ultrasound exam and come up with a treatment plan specific to your vein problems.  This allows us to achieve lasting results.
