ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSIS

Ultrasound is a technique of using sound waves to create images of structures inside your body. The images are helpful in diagnosing and treating various conditions. In this case we are using ultrasound images of your veins to diagnose the source, location, and degree of your chronic venous insufficiency. Using these images we are able to create a diagram of your vein disease. We call this diagram a vein map. We are then able to design a treatment plan specific to you.

The ultrasound exam is done in the bod:evolve veins facility. The exam takes up to one and a half hours depending on the complexity of your disease. You will be standing for the exam. So, it is advisable for you to drink plenty of water, and to have eaten within an hour or two of beginning the exam. Other than standing for an hour or so the exam is very easy for you. There is no pain involved. The care provider will be lightly rubbing the ultrasound transducer over your legs. We will also squeeze your leg from time to time.

Ultrasound is also used to guide your treatment. During your treatment the ultrasound is used in real time to make sure the laser fiber is in the correct vein and is correctly placed within the vein. Ultrasound is also used to guide sclerotherapy injections and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.

Our patients enjoy seeing the images of their veins as we perform the ultrasound exam. It also helps them to understand how varicose veins develop and how they are treated. Call 303.803.1000 today to schedule your vein map with our doctor at bod:evolve veins.
